Cancelled bid

I was bidding on an ipod touch and I was in the lead at £51 ish with some time to still go so I could have been outbid but I got an email from ebay today saying all the bids have been cancelled and the sale has finished early. Has anyone had this happen to them before, why does people do this? I am aware this is a very cheap price for an item like this but can you just end your sale because a product is going for to cheap?

A seller can end a sale as long as its not within 12 hours of the finish. The seller will still pay the initial listing fee.0

I think it possibly started at 99p so they won't have to pay then. I know I was unlikely to win it but I still think its unfair when people pull their items from the sale!0 -
Why did you bhid with so much time to go before the end? Was that just to give other potential buyers a target to aim for?
Bid high bid late!0 -
If you believe that's true, keep doing it. Makes no logical sense - but.
The seller probably had the item advertised elsewhere. Ebay don't like it, but I've done it myself. To abort the auction with 12hrs or more can't be because of the price.0 -

Bid high bid late!
I still fairly new to all this ebay business only started in april of this year so not got the hang of last minute bidding yet. I bid that price as it was a figure that I didnt want to go above on this offer on that particular item. I am going to have to remember the bid high bid late rule. Thanks:)0
