Getting My Emergency Tax back.

Hi there. I have now been on emergency tax code 'BR' since l started my job back in March 2008. I am full time 39 hours per week and earn minimum wage. I come out with about £12500 per year. Can you advise me how much l can expect back?
I've sent a letter with copies of my P60's (although not my latest P60 because its not arrived yet) to the address l was told to. Is that all l need do? How long do they usually take.
I'm stupidly relying on this money for 6 months rent in advance that l have to find for the beginning of August and am worried l've left it too late.
Any advise would be very gratefully received.
Yours,
A very stressed Daniel

This would be better on the Cutting Tax Board; this is Benefits.0

Yes, the tax board would be the place to ask, but if you come back here.....my OH had to do this a while back - but it was about six years ago - he was on emergency tax as he had moved here to the UK in September, and was awaiting a National Insurance number. When he got the info he needed, he did his over the phone, and his tax was put into his account within about five days. Have you given them a call to see what time frame is etc.?0
