I have just tried to ring Germany and the tariff announcement for both companies is wrong when compared to the websites. On the websites both claim to be 0p per min but the tariff message says 1p for 1899 and 2p for 18866, it said 0p/min yesterday aswell. They have always said to believe the tariff announcement.
Beware, it may well apply to other countries too!

Is this via a BT line or cable?

In fact cable says 2p a minute to Germany. Have you checked your bill to see what you were charged?

Phoning Spain now on 18185 (site says 1p/minute and that's what I've been paying for some time) - will report back ..............

    EDIT 19:25

    15m13s for 20p - so that's 4p connection + 16 mins @ 1p/minute. Exactly as per the website.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Always check niftylist for the cheapest rates which are usually available via a call-through number - https://www.niftylist.co.uk. Chepest for a call-through for spain is 0.5p per minute.

I suppose they are the same - though niftylist does include VOIP providers too.
