9 months to receive refund from Spark!!!

I left Spark Energy in Oct 09 with them owing me nearly £130. Today (!) I received my final bill and when I rang them to ask when this would acutally be received in my A/c I was told that it will now take a further 28 days.
There is no energy supplier that would wait 9 months to receive payment for their bill, so why is it ok to make customers wait that long to receive a refund???

They are not. They are only making you wait 28 days from preparation of bill.

They can't refund you, like they can't work out what you owe, without preparation of a bill.

Companies can take up to 12 months to prepare bills, and nPower often were at one point citing some problem they had had with Ofgem

And if they had, or go bust you would more than likely not got any of the £130 back.

You would have been well down on the list of creditors to be paid as when Amarada Hess, a major domestic gas supplier went bust a few years ago. It was only with the goodwill of Powergen that domestic customers had any credit balances added to their new Powergen account

Never let a supplier of anything hold a credit balance of more than an amount of money you can afford to loose.
  • Anyway who are Spark energy, the big boys may not be brillant but they are unliekly to go bust
