Having read through these posts, it seems that to include Weetabix as part of a dogs daily intake, serves no real purpose or offers little or none of the required intake a dog should have.

Equally it would appear it dose not appear to be harmful.

    So what does it do?.

In this case it seems to be enjoyed by the dog but then again, many dogs eat just anything they shouldn't and don't suffer as a result of it.

I suppose in a perfect world a dog would eat what was recommended, the amount presented and at a time that suited, but we don't live in that perfect world. Just for the record I don't subscribe to the view that "a little won't hurt" as it might in the long term.

I think islandman, that long term, feeding two weetabix for breakfast, every day (thus replacing 50% of the dog's kibble intake with a food that is low in nutrients) will overall reduce the amount of nutrients, particularly fat, protein, vitamins and minerals by about 50% too.

Whilst I am sure this would not matter on an occasional basis (other than the risk that the dog may start to prefer the weetabix and refuse dog food!) if carried out on a daily basis, long term this may have an effect on general health including potentially skin, coat, muscles, bone development, neurology, metabolism... all the things we need a balanced diet to maintain.
