Reducing CC Limit - will this cause problem

in Credit cards
Hi, as all DFW's, im slowing but surely making way with my credit card etc,
I have paid 1000 off the card now and feel comfortable, in ringing them and asking them to reduce the Credit limit by a similar amount,
I'm just concerned by doing this that when they review the account, this could prompt them to to do further reduction in the future, and yes i realise they could do that anyway, but worried i could cause myself a problem in the future, when i could just leave the credit card limit as is, and just ensure the card is not used,
suppose it just a bit of re assurance for myself if the limit was reduced
hope you understand that

Reducing your limit by 1000 won't make any difference to improve your credit rating IMO.
I'd say it will do the opposite and anyone looking at your credit report can't tell if you asked for the limit to be reduced or if the card company have assessed you as a risk and decided to reduce your limit.
