Do I take out mortgage protection cover?

Options
My wife's job finishes in 18 months time. She works in research so her contract is always a long term rolling one. In 2008 she was told the job would be safe until 2012 but that further funding may be avilable. The funding is not going to be available so her job will be over in 2012 although she has had no formal written information telling her that the funding definitely will not carry on.

So what I'm saying is if I took out mortgage protection cover would this mean that in 2012 that would be valid and we would be able to claim? Or because it's never been set in stone that her work would continue after 2012 would that make it void?

She would not be able to claim at the end of a fixed term contract.
    Gone ... or have I?
