My old laptop Toshiba Satellite A60 is subject to an insurance claim and being a total techo phobe have no idea if the model the insurance company tell me I have to have is any way compatible.
My old Tosh (2 yrs old) had a Celeron 2.8ghz processor, 512RAM, DVDRW and 40GB HDD. The model they want to give me now is the L100 with Celeron M390 1.7ghz processor and the same RAM and HDD space.
Please can someone tell me whether this processor is any good?!
They have told me that I am getting like for like, but I really have no idea!
Please, please any nice techie help me out? I have tried reading threads, but just seem to get nowhere.
This is what I had (with upgraded RAM and DVDRW)

Celeron-M is better than Celeron. See here:

Nowadays, you can't judge a processor's performance based on its clock speed.
Hope that helps.:money:0 -
Indeed - the Celeron-M is far better than the other Celeron which is the old and very nasty variety. Based on tests I've seen, if you compared them to a normal Pentium processor the Celeron-M would be about 2.2-2.4 ghz while the old celeron would be lucky to bear comparison with a 1.6ghz Pentium.0
