Portable DVD Player Connections

Hi all,
I've just bought the £50 Asda portable dvd player to use on my flights to and from America this summer.
The connections that come with it are an AC adaptor and car power adaptor.
I've just looked at the plane I'll be flying on using seatguru and it says the power output is DC Power.
Does anyone know what kind of adaptor I'd need to use for this please? The research I've done seems pretty unclear.
Thanks.

Knowing it's DC Power doesn't help you a great deal. You need to know what voltage they supply, and it would also be useful to know the maximum current that they can provide.
You will also need to know what type of socket they use, as there are numerous different types.
If the supply voltage on the plane is a nominal 12V DC, you should find that the car power adaptor will work fine electrically, but will probably not have the right plug to match what's on the plane and so need a plug adaptor.0 -
email/phone your flight company, chances are they provide them, but it's a paid for service.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Thanks. On the seat guru website, it states:
"Please note, only some of American's 757 have in-seat power, but not all aircraft are outfitted with outlets. Those that do have power have cigarette lighter-style power ports in all first class seats and in select economy seats, mostly towards the front of the cabin. Consult the seat map for exact locations."
I've selected seats that do have the ports, so am I right in thinking the cigarette lighter connection will be ok?0 -
It certainly looks to be Ok.
AFAIK, car cigarette lighter sockets are the same size on both sides of the Atlantic, and other than trucks they all use 12V, so it looks to be good with the car adaptor.0
