More potty training advice needed...

Hello, I've posted asking for help with potty training before and now I really need some more advice. My little boy (who will be 3 in october) has gone from using the potty on demand half the time and wetting himself the other half, to doing no wees all day (10 hours or more) and then either wetting himself or doing it in the potty just before bedtime, after a LOT of persuasion.
He needs a lot of bribing and persuading to sit on the potty at any time and won't sit on the toilet either.
I thought it might be a good thing that he can hold his wee all day but it also means he isn't going for no.2s either and as he already has constipation, this is not good news.
Has anyone else had experience of children refusing to do anything in the potty until they absolutely have to? If he had his own way he would hold it all day until he had his night nappy put on.
He is very stubborn and generally doesn't like to do things until he's decided to do them so I am trying not to pressure him but I don't want him to develop problems as a result of not going all day...please help!
