Black marks all over one wall? Empty House.

So we have found what we think in the perfect house in our price range. However on the wall in the front bedroom is loads of black marks. They are in the middle of the wall and the EA says this is most likely mould. The house is a repo and has been empty for a while. They aren't sure how long and it looks to me like its been empty for at least a year. Anyway the wall does not feel damp and I tried to scratch away at the wall and it was solid. Laminated flooring. Double glazing. Room that gets the afternoon sun. Could it be mould and whats the best way to get rid of it? Obviously we are going to get a survey done.

    Black marks would indicate mould.

The house will just need a good airing!

Middle of the wall in empty house ... unless something is causing condensation on that bit of wall (is it external?) then it's not mould I shouldn't have thought.
Without a picture who knows. Take a second viewing and take a pic.
If you go further ask surveyor to look at it.

Is it burnt on? You never know what some nutters do in houses.

BTW: An EAs job is to sell the house. Even if they knew it was plague spores they wouldn't tell you.

Any chance it could just be furniture marks? Before I redecorated I had black marks in the middle of my wall from the back of the sofa! Could be from the headboard?

Was it built on an ancient burial ground?

Was it on an external wall? It could be that it was behind a wardrobe at some stage. In which case, it could well have been a good spot for mould.

That sounds a bit far fetched.
