Epileptics can't drive... for X years after their last attack.
So, you're either epileptic (and can't drive), or not. Which is it?0 -
Wifes friend suffered from epilepsy and recently got a car on motability, Whilst at a hospital
appointment she must have mentioned she drove in, The staff told her she should not be driving.
Within a week the car had been returned. I think she handed it back just in case they contacted the
DVLA and reported her.
Just imagine the carnage she could have caused if she had a fit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

2 years.
Although I think the DVLA need to be aware (and therefore your insurance company) beyond this.0 -

Epilepsy Action http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/services/insurance_motor.html have their own company - not sure how it compares as I've always been a named driver on someone elses car and their premiums have never increased due to me having epilepsy although I now have an unrestricted licence (Seizure free for 5 years) but still inform insurers as other wise my cover would be invalid.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0

There have been a number of posts on this thread implying that if you are legal to drive that is the end of the story. That is incorrect.
It is a standard question on most insurance company quoting lists, and even if you have been symptom free and allowed to drive for years you still have to answer yes.
To add to that, the insurance companies will want to know about any medication being taken.
After a while it stopped making a significant difference to my renewal quotes, but even then some companies won't quote.
I can't remember how long it took before the licence doesn't need to be renewed regularly.0 -
thanks for that information. I'm just finding it difficult to see the reason why i get charged so much for car insurance  i've never had an accident, i've been seizure free for over 8 years also but my premiums are going up quite a bit each year:j Finally facing up to the problems!!! :j0
