You get could it down to £129 by booking via virgin for glas-preston and the rest seperate but still very expensive!!

you could go train to glasgow, megabus to preston ,train to blackpool -bit long -and you have to go in the day. cost down to £88 assuming you keep an eye on megabus website and book in next few days to get £1.50 seats.
  • Of course Megatrain now operate between Glasgow and Oxenholme so...

Girvan via Ayr to Glasgow £22.70 each way (any train)
13.50 MegaTrain to Oxenholme £4 total each way
Saver Rtn Oxenholme to Blackpool at £45.25 (any train)

    - and on the return 1721 Megatrain from oxenholme back up to Glasgow

    £100.65 total

With this combination of tickets, you are allowed to stay on the train from Glasgow through to Preston, from where you need to change onto a Northern Rail train to Blackpool - and vice versa on the return.

The Glasgow to Oxenholme sector needs to be booked on the Megatrain website - https://www.megatrain.com - the outbound journey can be booked from Weds 30th Aug and the return can be booked from 30th 6th Sept.

All the other tickets can be bought online or at the station - however a 50% off promotion can possibly return so it would then be much cheaper to book online.

Or save another £8 by megatraining it to Manchester then to Blackpool, daresay Eveshams connections are better and the journey easier though.
  • Yup - I did look up the Megatrain to Manchester but its quicker to Megatrain to Oxenholme and then onwards to Blackpool
