Has all these changes killed ebay

with ebay changing their fees and the postal service now charging more for packets that are not flat, do you think the days of Ebay are now ending.

I havent sold anything in the last few weeks because of the postal charges, however i have still bought a few items. I think all these changes are going to strangle Ebay.

I am not a big seller (mainly a buyer) BUT I sent of 2 items last week and they were both cheaper this time! (Agreed not by much). Give time for the dust to settle with regard to PIP.

However the charges for shops on ebay does seem to make a difference., see soolins post, ... I had been thinking of setting one up for the massive clearout I am (always) threatening, but I think not now.

I'll be a lttle more thorough in my reasearch as 6 items didnot sell last week. Or mabe list things in turbo and wait for freelisting days!

I was thinking about setting a shop up too. What have the charges gone up to?

I had a sneaky feeling that all the extra small packages being sent now because of the internet could of prompted the changes by the Post Office... they have got to make more money I am sure......

    Have a look here.
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/sell/importantinfo/

The insertion fees for items over £4.99 have gone up, the FVFs have also gone up and the visibility of shop items has been reduced.

The link posted above states the following:

It's vitally important - to your business and ours - that we maintain a healthy balance between listing formats on the eBay marketplace. From the 2nd August 2006 we will be reducing the visibility of Shops Listings in the main search results on eBay.co.uk. As it stands at the moment Shops Listings are displayed at the end of all Search and Browse results. After the change Shop Items will be still be displayed in main search results but only when the main site has returned a small number of relevant items.

We will also be amending the way that items are sorted when they are displayed. Currently listings are displayed as 'Items ending soonest'. For long running listings this is not necessarily the most effective way of attracting a buyer, so this will be defaulted to show the 'Lowest Price' first. Additionally Gallery pictures will be displayed when Shops Listings are visible and preference will be given to items from Featured and Anchored Shops.

NO..........the new postage charges make no difference to us. We've sold over £500 of goods this week...and shipped to Europe as well as the UK. Just take the package to the PO and get it priced!! I've upped the postage costs after informing the buyers in my ads...and refunded 2 of them since the price increase in postage was significantly less than I'd accounted for.

Within 1 week or two it'll settle down and become the norm again.

Most other countries use the new postage system...I hardly see eBay grinding to a halt there....lol !

I think the changes are great, if it means a lot of the wannabe sellers move out of Ebay it leaves more room for me

I'm what you would class as a wanabe seller more than likely, only one item cost me more to post than previously, some have actually gone down so can make P&P lower, but I have found things a little slower this week, I think more due to holidays etc.
One day I might be more organised...........
