Changing from dual fuel to 2 separate?

I am currently with Powergen duel fuel and have been for maybe 3 years so think its time for a change! I would like to a green electricity supplier, and a separate gas supplier and will probably go through different switch methods to get the best cashback. How will this work with regard to timing? Will I leave both at the same time, or could I be Powergen for just one for a while? Does it tend to be a smooth transfer when doing it this way around?
