Hi Powerchimp, Just a wee thought to you (and Miss Ellie!) I know how hard it is, all the waiting around, when you feel like you are finally taking this forward and there are so many delays. Honestly, it all settles down. I dreaded the phone ringing but after only a couple of weeks, it all stopped.
I get no hassle from anyone now, not a peep. Obviously the credit card companies are so busy with the people still living in La La Land, that perhaps they aren't worried about people like us, trying to pay them back responsibly? Glad to hear you have set up your new bank a/c.

Thanks TTF, thats made me feel better:T I've had real up and down day today. Still a bit daunted by the whole thing but just taking it one step at a time. :)

Well I just back from a festival this morning. Basically every year all the boys (about 20 of us?) get together on a campsite by the river for the day, have a bbq and drink (a lot) of beer, then a decent size campfire in the evening. Not altogether cheap, but a damn sight cheaper than an equivalent night out down the pub!

Male bonding ceremony? Lots of hairy knees on show round the campfire?
We women are more civilised. Just get together with some cheap wine, have a good gossip and trash most of the male species :D
Glad you had a brill time!!! Just hope you have some money left in the budget for a large pack of Panadol/Alka-Seltzer :rotfl:

just a quick update, I won my case with Amex through the ombusman, it took about 9 weeks but Amex have agreed that they didn't act in my best interests, refunded all the interest they charged from the beginning of the DMP and threw in an extra £50 for my trouble, all in all, a result!!! and it wasn't hard, just a quick call to the ombusman set it in motion. well worth remembering that they don't win all of the time!!!!

Listen to Auntie TF & Auntie Twitty, they always manage to cheer me up and make me feel warm inside. :o Where I tend to be stern and blunt with my advice and upset people (I guess I'm just a bloke). QUOTE]

Yea,yea just a bloke who can be EXTREMELY rude about a certain someone's age! ;)
However since you also give good solid advice and devote a lot of your time unpaid to being the group administrator I reckon you also deserve a :A and the acknowledgment and the thanks of all of us
You are a :staradmin and I :heart2: and value your advice (even if you are :male: !)

Hear, hear, Twitty, If you can forgive one man then you can also forgive poor Ian, I am pleased that YOUR man has finally seen sense and realised what a muppet he was!! Treat him (slightly) mean, girl and keep him keen. My mother used to say that a girl should always marry a man who loved her a 'little bit' more than she loved him, then all would be well. I'm not sure about that (she came off with some real crackers!) but look after yourself, you have been through so much this last year, that you deserve a bit of TLC.

That's great, Ian, I know you worry about nights out with all the DMP c**p. I bet you had better weather than good old Ireland (er, rain).
I just hope you weren't eating any beans round that campfire...

  • Hi

I am new to this and have spoken to the CCCS about setting up a DMP. I am just waiting for H to take over the joint overdraft we have and get my name taken off and then I can get it all in motion. In the meantime I have sent token payments to my creditors (apart from natwest) and have sent letters explaining my situation.

I have cancelled all direct debits and the payments were due out last week. So far I have had a phonecall from Egg who were very good when I explained the situation and that they would give me 30 days grace. I have received an email from Cahoot saying they will pass my account over to their collections team in 30 days. I was expecting letter after letter and nasty phonecalls and so far its been ok.

Can't wait now to get the DMP all set up. It has been like a massive weight taken off my shoulders. Today I am seeing Barclays about setting up an account (I have no debts with Barclays or linked companies). All coming together now and feel so much better.
