Apologies because absolutely nothing to with a DMP, but I well remember the days when our family became proud owners of a freezer.
My Mum (who was a keen baker) went into overdrive but unfortunately her labelling skills fell short.
Many's the time we sat down to a meal of apple pie, mash and carrots. And her steak pie with custard was to die for! :rotfl:
'Twitty'
That was really funny, Twitty!!! You reminded me of my Dad buying loads of tins with no labels from the wholesalers (donkey's years ago!).
You should have seen his face when most of them turned out to be pet food (and we didn't have any!) Ha ha!!:j:hello::hello::jDMP mutual support thread member 3480 -

I'm waiting for my barclays bank statement so I can send everything to CCCS, did ask in branch for a months print off but they wanted to charge me!!!
Seeing as it's due in the post (or was due 2 days ago...) I thought I'd wait and send everything together??
With token payments, how do I go about it?
Do they need to be made with an accompanying letter or do I pay in directly with cash then inform?
Thanks in advance guys, just wanna sit & howl......
Ooh Mrs G
Please don't be so downhearted!
I'm not best placed to advise you as because of my start time I never had to make token payments. Did you see Ian's very recent post re:how he sent his token payments?
Would it be worth coughing up the extra money to pay for a print-out if it might save you some of this angst?
Sorry you're feeling so down but it all really does get better

Well hello TF!
I was just thinking you haven't been around much lately. Been off sunning yourself in the Caribbean again?

Hello,
I'm a newbie to this site but have been in a dmp since Oct 2007. I have been posting a few questions on the main thread but wondered if perhaps people on here may be able to help with my current issue.
Bear with me as it may be a long explanation:
I had debts with LLoyds (overdraft, loan and CC), Barclaycard (CC) and Egg (CC). I was keeping up with payments on these but was frustrated at only paying interest/minimum amounts and the payments were leaving me with nothing to live on so I entered into a dmp.
Since joining the plan I pay £250 every month and have met all payments and on time.
Barclaycard are fine and haven't even registered a default on my file and regularly send me statements.
Egg registed a default in Oct 2007 (as expected) and again I have no contact from them and they accept my payments.
Lloyds however are a completely different kettle of fish and I'm so angry and frsutrated with them right now. They phone and send me letters every few days.
Today I was checking my credit report and noticed more defaults than there was last time I looked and discovered that LLoyds have added defaults on my overdraft and loan as of May 2010. This is 3 years after entering the DMP (and therefore 3 years after the 'default' on payment). Why would they do this now??? Why didn't they do it 3 years ago?? I'm so gutted as my plan will finish in 4 years with everything paid off in full (including all the charges etc that have been added) and any defaults would also be cleared and my credit record would be clean. But now because of this I'm going to be stuck with this for another 6 years. (interestingly they haven't registered a default against the CC but will probably wait until I'm almost there and then add it on just to screw me over.)
I'm so annoyed with them and for doing this now. Apparantly this may be an indication they are passing this to a dca. Again why do this after 3 years of the plan where they will get all the debt + charges and interest back but with a dca they may not?
I just don't understand their thinking?
Has anyone else had issues with LLoyds while on a dmp? Any insight as to why they might do this?
I'm considering writing them a letter to express my annoyance at this. I'm so gutted that they have ruined my clear date for the future and doubly annoyed that I could have gone for an IVA where they wouldn't have got all the debt and which I would only have 2 years left on (instead of 4) but instead I took the decision to pay all my debts in full and this is how they respond?? Gah!! I'm so p****ed off with them.
Sorry for long rant but feel really down about this and just need reassurance that they treat everyone like this.
Oh and just wanted to add that Lloyds get £180 each month to go towrads a £7000 debt which is surely not a bad payment???0 -
Thanks guys. feeling a little less grumpy than earlier... had a MASSIVE declutter in my boys room (thanks to the encouragement from the decluttering thread..) and it looks so good!
Heaps went out but a few good bits kept for next weeks car boot to help with our first token payments :cheesy:"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -

Listen to Auntie TF & Auntie Twitty, they always manage to cheer me up and make me feel warm inside.Where I tend to be stern and blunt with my advice and upset people (I guess I'm just a bloke). So, regarding token payments, as suggested write the account no on the back of the PO (Seems like a good idea to me!), and send it to the address that normally appears on your statements.
Personally I sent £1 cheques from my old A/C (that was going on the DMP too!), along with the GIRO slip attached to the statement and sent to said address. Probably not the best way to do it, but hey ho, I'm still here! By doing that though I failed to make Tokens to my A/Cs, Loan, DFS Finance & possibly Egg. Again, I didn't get in trouble...yet, lol.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

It only dawned on me recently that the reason a DMP is so hard is that you pay back the money but you don't borrow it all again ASAP.
That might sound strange, but I can't tell you how often we had a bit of extra cash, paid it off the C/C's then blooming spent it all again!
Just try to remind yourself, (as I do still in the early hours) that this debt will be gone for good and you are no longer treating a broken leg with a sticking plaster!!
All the best,
ttfx
How true ttf and thank you for your thoughts:T I am trying to stay positive as I know that a dmp is the right way to go but in these early days I just feel very panicky and tend to dwell on every little thing and then brood on it, blowing everything out of proportion. At the moment I'm sorting out our budget working off the debt remedy from CCCS and it feels strange to have money and I can't help but think that I should be handing this over to my creditors.:o
I'm sure that I will get used to it all eventually:)

For all those about to start the DMP, and are waiting to make their first payments, please don't panic or lose sleep over it. Just get on with your day to day life. I've found that life's too short to worry about these things, and it's certainly not worth losing MY hard earned sleep over.
From what I remember at the start, I had my appointment, sent token payments (without letters, I never bothered, and wasn't told to do this - I let PayPlan do the informing/negotiating), went to work, came home, waited for the phonecalls, fielded the phonecalls (I got quite good at it!), made the first payment to PayPlan, LOTS more phonecalls, and then everything started to quieten down.
So good luck, chin up, stiff upper lip and all that, and don't let the Man get you down! GRRRR!!!
Night all.
I have good and bad the days; the good days are when no letters arrive in the post :j I should have my DMP set for the 1st September, as the new bank a/c is finally set up, but now I have to wait 2 weeks for the boss to come back from holiday to transfer my wages to it.:(
I think once the whole thing starts I start to feel a little bit more relaxed about it.DMP mutual support thread member:3880 -
Hello everybody
I've not been on MSE for a whileas I've got rather fed up with the whole 'being in debt' thing  ...
Starting my DMP with the CCCS at the beginning of 2008 was definitely the best thing I could've done to deal with my debts. Apart from the initial couple of months being a bit grim while it all settled down and some 'grief' from the Nationwide, it's been going very well.
I'm able to pay a good chunk of my monthly salary to the DMP, and have even been able to increase the payments a little. It's been fantastic seeing the my debts going down - and within the next couple of months, I'll have paid off half.
So all's good ... but recently have just got really fed up and can't really properly explain why!
I love the whole MSE/DFW thing - and I've got really into checking the best deals, using Quidco, printing off vouchers (especially for meal deals in restaurants), and also being able to give advice to others. Just wish I'd done all this a long time ago!:rotfl:
The last two and half years have gone surprisingly quickly so guess the next couple of years or so will go just as fast. But think being at that mid-way point is the reason for being just being a little bit down. Bizarrely I'm fed up and delighted at the same time, if that makes sense!
Some of the stories on here make me so sad and make me realise that in the whole scheme of things, I'm one of the luckier ones. My debts accumulated from overspending rather than from struggling to pay bills.
Anyway, that all probably made no sense ... but wanted to get back into the DFW stuff, 'get positive' again, and stop wallowing in self pity!Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.
Dealt with my debt through a Step Change (CCCS) DMP.
