  • Hi all

I really need to join this thread if I may?

Me and DH are just starting our DMP, first payment goes out 10th Jan.

Most of 2011 has been spend stressing about money, so now things are moving I am feeling a bit lost TBH.

I have never budgeted in my life, and thought of no credit card is quite scary. I have been "getting round" to doing a budget spreadsheet for the past two weeks and I now really need to do it now we are in the new safe bank account.

Happy 2012 to all DFWs, this is going to be out year to get these things sorted.

Wow, we're starting at the same time as our first DMP payment goes out on the 10th as well.

I'm finding it all very weird and emotional, as you'll see if you've spotted any of my other threads/posts..

Feeling very odd about midnight, actually, as 2012 is feeling very much an 'unknown'...

I think we are all going to have a fantastic 2012. You know why? Because we do not have our heads buried in the sand and because we are in control:T

Imagine all the people who are going to receive those massive credit card statements with all those impulse buys and forgotten treats listed! I for one am happy that this will NEVER EVER happen to me again:j

I have two treats lined up for myself this year and now I have really knuckle down and save, save, save - it's not going to be easy on my DMP but with the help on these forums it should be achievable:eek:

Here's to mutual support, thrift and LBMs:beer:

I will have a very good 2012 as on Dec 2nd this year I will become debt free after clearing £22,000 of debt in 7 years.

Its been a long hard road but now knowing I have only 12 more payments to go is brilliant !.

So to BR & PinotGrigot DONT WORRY it can be done and I will still be around even when I become debt free !

  • That's fantastic Antonic:j. Well done:j

I aim to plod on with my DMP for the next 4 years, as it leaves me with enough cash to still enjoy some quality fun times with my daughter. She will then finish school and I will at that point start doing some serious debt busting. At least that's the plan and at least it gives me a framework. Maybe I might even look at tackling some of the smaller debts prior to then, especially if they get passed to DCAs and allow me to negotiate:)

Well done again on achieving such inspirational success in cleaning your debts.

    Hi Guys,

Its been a while since my last update but things keep plodding along and I'm continued to read how everyones doing.

I have updated my signature and as you can see I was so close to meeting one of my 2011 goals. Only £800 off meeting that 25K goal and still working on the F&F. I have been trying to get my smallest debt paid with the F&F but it is still ongoing. I'm sure it depends on who opens the letter on the day to what reply you get. I've had different responses over the last few mnths which is frustrating so decided to give it a break and try again in the new year.

This has been my second Christmas paid for by cash only and it was an exhilirating experience. I was also spking to my partner last night and he couldn't believe how much I had paid off! Its amazing how the DMP has allowed me to do something I was unable to do before and just brought clarity and focus to the situation.

So for all those newbies, keep moving forward there is a light at the end of that tunnel, even if its just a glimmer at the moment.

Best Wishes for a happy 2012.

You were in a similar position to mine back in 2009, In my opinion it is such an achievement to get to where we are just two years later. I started my DMP in December 2009, it was £42500, and now is just £27000.

Congratulations and well done on your DMP. Keep going, your be there before you know it...

Its not been easy, but once I got my head round the fact that the debts had to be paid it wasnt to hard.

The best thing I did to save money was to give up drinking @ home, this saved me £60/month. I did this in June 2011 and the extra money has been most useful !.
