Just realised my Payplan appointment isn't until tomorrow! Another whole day to get nervous
I'll just have to watch The Apprentice instead.0 -
After thinking my trouble with Santander was over they phoned again tonight (3rd time today). They are looking for bank statements, pay slips, lists of other creditors, mobile/work phone nos and payments to show willingness to service my debt. They have already received £70 this month. What should I do now?
Antk
Is it a home number or mobile you have? I am with Post Office homephone and sneakily got my number changed before my DMP started because I was a wimp and didn't want to talk to anyone.
If its a mobile
Get a new sim.
Block their number?
Don't answer the phone?
If you feel you have to answer then just say 'I am with CCCS now, my number is ......you will have to deal with them now, thank you' and end the call.

Thanks Tp, they have my home no. Think I'll just ignore their calls. The funny thing is my statement shows interest as 0% so I don't know why they're being awkward.0

Can I join you? I have recently set up a DMP (joint with DH) with Payplan. We've made 2 payments to payplan so far - only another 70 or so to go!
Have had unplanned expenses this month which has left me totally skint - normally I'd have pulled out the plastic but now I am searching the cupboards and freezer to see what is lurking and vaguely edible! Still 2.5 weeks til Dh payday so I will probably be having some strange meal combinations by then - think Dr Who fish fingers and custard!
Depression has been pretty much ever present to varying degrees since I was a kid although only officially diagnosed about 15 years ago and it is a bit of a battle to stop it taking over completely with all this going on. I also think it has contributed to my debts at times - spend to feel better, feel guilty and low because of the money and end up finding something else that I "need" to buy and so on.
Due to problems with depression, anxiety and problems with a couple of the managers at my work I am currently considering taking voluntary redundancy because it would be better to leave with something than be driven to leaving with nothing later! That will put a spanner in the works but I would appreciate the breathing space to be honest after a few really horrible months at work. I would get enough to keep me going for a while but I think I will find it hard to get work with medical history and some attendance issues.
So far 3 creditors have agreed to reduced payments with 2 (M&S money and MBNA stopping interest for the moment). Lloyds TSB have agreed to lower loan repayment but have said that charges will still be incurred. Just another 10 creditors to go! At least things are moving on now. I hated moving all the direct debits and salary etc to prevent offsetting - I really felt like I was being sneaky. I am glad it is all out in the open and wish we'd done it a couple of years ago as we have basically been having to borrow more to live month to month over the last couple of years so could have avoided about a third of our debt if we'd faced up to things earlier. Bum, bum, bum!!!! Hey ho, debt free day here I come...slowly but surely....
Can I have a number please?Allypops

I feel exactly the same with regards to depression and spending... I think my biggest challenge in the months ahead will be to find other ways to make myself feel better when I get into one of my downward spirals, without spending money I don't have. Good luck! You can do it! We can all do it0 -

Wasn't it great to hear from TP again, Ian, I was a newbie but you must have known each other for ages!

You make me feel like one of the oldies now lol. And TP's back for two days and the 'three' are already up to their old tricks.
With regards the prog, it is interesting, but much like all the other progs such as filthiest whatever, and economy gastronomy etc, I'm sure they exaggerate the amount they are wasting...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
OMG WOW! You cheeky little thing. I had wondered if I should take up smoking
I thought that CCCS might audit my changes! That is amazing advice & that has cleared up everything that was worrying me. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I've had about £25k debt on average for the last 11 years and now I might finally lose this disgusting thing called "Being trapped by credit cards". I almost feel that doing a DMP is my two fingers up to them for being so easy to hand out credit to me when I was young and stupid!!! Can you believe when I was between 18 & 20 I managed to get about eight different credit cards from varying companies all with reasonable limits!!! And for the last 10 years as I grew to understand what the hell I had done it was too late! They deserve a bit of interest loss!!
This site is amazing. Thank you again
PS can someone Pin Toffee Penny's advice for all to see please?
Thanks Toffee. Here's a Fruit and Nut

Umm, not sure if the imaginative budgeting should be posted though, don't want the creditors knowing should we lol.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Only thing I would add with regards budget figures and whether or not they are checked is that my commute by train for the month costs me £320. PayPlan said that was fine, but warned me I'd have to provide proof if a creditor ever queried this.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

well heres our situation: We have basically run up debts to the tune of 22k, spread between loans credit cards and overdrafts!(i only added it all up the other day and cant belive how stupid we have been!!).I havent slept for months trying to move peter to pay paul all the time, ive always dealt with the finances and hubby has only just became aware of how bad it is since payments coming out and getting bank charges!!.I spoke to a friend the other day whom i know has had worries of her own and has had a dmp for a few years.I ended up breaking down and she basically explained how it all worked and said if we dont do it now we could be in double the amount of debt in 2 years!*(ive even started doing weekly shopping on credit card).
heres what ive done so far so reduce outgoings:
started food shopping online!
put my 2 children on sandwhiches for school!
cancelled sky sports!
put my car up for sale, my mother in law has offered to give me a lift to work!
Now heres my questions:
our mortgage is with the halifax and that is one of the people we owe an overdraft too, when we change accounts will this be able to be moved!also can we have a debit card to shop online still!
on selling my car i have told hubbie i want to buy a new chest freezer and fill it! he thinks this is a waste of money as we already have a fridge freezer!! my argument is i can get more bargains batch cook and shop less, who is right??i will then pay off the rest towards debts!
will i get a refund on my car insurance? i paid yearly on my cc in feb!
where do i add mobile phones to my budget on the cccs??we are tied in for another 8 months!
i pay my bills through secure homes which has now changed to money way should i cancel this?
thanks so much in advance and i look forward to getting to know u all xxx.
Hello and welcome
My view is the freezer will save you tons. Food budgets can vary enormously and it's one of the things on a DMP you do have some control over so I'd say go for it!
Good luck
