  • oh no! I think I've messed up. I canceled my cash card and declared it stolen so No-one could take money out of my account. I have just tried to log on to my internet banking to cancel my DD's and of course I can't as you need the card number to log on - Aaarrrrgggg! What an idiot - am I stuffed, how long will it take for my card to arrive? I canceled on friday and I'm with barclays.
  • Well I was rudely awoken at 9 am this morning (I was having a well deserved lie in til 10!) by an MBNA rep this morning who wanted "to go over my SOA" which I'd sent them and they had rejected an offer of payment.

After going over it again and telling them exactly the same stuff, I was told "to keep my fingers crossed they'd accept it this time!". I couldn't give a flying **** whether they choose to accept it or not, they are getting the payments I offered via standing order next week as soon as I get paid. I won't be bullied by these companies. She kept saying to me "you realise this will affect your credit rating - what with having a mortgage and all", I stated it wasn't a choice rather a need-must situation. She really did put me in a bad mood all day - sorry to rant just needed to get it off my chest :o

They certainly do, they make me laugh when they make you feel like you've got some choice in the matter. But the threads and members on here give me the strength to keep plodding on :T

The law states that they should not call at your door the only people who can attend your property uninvited are the Police and the Postman someone can knock to ask directions.

See the letter below regarding doorstep visits. This would annoy me and ruin my Sunday if it happened to me. You sound as if you handled it very well.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

    Dear Sirs,

    Account No: XXXXXXXX

Please be advised that I will only communicate with you in writing. I have noted your repeated attempts to contact me over the past few weeks and these have been duly logged by time and date. Should it be your intention to arrange a doorstep visit, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make such an appointment with you.

There is an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v Sheppard & Short Ltd [1959] 2 QB 384. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and, if you do so, you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.

    Yours faithfully

Oops, sorry they called didn't knock (thankfully i live in a very secure apartment block so i never get any cold callers :D).

They were quite sneaky though, normally its an 0800 number calling me but it was quite clearly just a mobile and as I'm trying to get my Ann Summers' parties off the ground I answered :o

EEk! Sorry, I don't know how long it takes for new cards etc, but can you phone them to cancel the DDs that are imminent?

Ah yes I can - thank you :T

Nothings due out until the 1st so I have time - just had a panic when I realised what I'd done, such a bloody Muppet! Mind you it is a bad system that doesn't allow you some sort of fall back if you lose your card. there should be a way to access your online banking - even if its just to check the balance etc.

I'll give the card a few days to turn up and then call if it doesn't arrive. phew, thanks again.
  • Hi all just a quick up date my ebay things finished today and I made in total £15.74 not much but it is a start. Thanks all for all advise.

  • Well I've got my wages out of bank, just apart from mortgage payment due to leave tomorrow. Ive done myself a budget for the month following payplans suggestions.

Payplan called me tonight (bit awkward as I had parents over and I can't tell them about the situation, but I managed to leave the room and speak in private!) payplan went through the next stages ie letter of authority, writing to creditors.

I feel a bit panicked now as obviously they had to spell out the negatives such as CCJs and charging orders. Apparently one of my creditors, Nationwide whom I owe £2500 to are a bit keen on these.

I just hope I've done the right thing, but looking at my budget, even with a bit of overtime included, I'd never have managed to pay all and eat still!

I guess I'm having a few wobbles tonight.
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
