Hi All
Just wanted to wish all the DMP newstarts all the best with their debt free journey.
We are now over halfway there and it feels so much better. it hasn't been all plain sailing and we still have times where we search the sofa, frantically trying to find enough money to pay bus fares to work, whilst we count the hours till payday!
overall things are much better and fingers crossed we will hopefully in 2011 we will get our first holiday in several years.:)
hang in there...0 -
HELP HELP HELP
Came home to a letter from NEXT stating that my account will be transferred to a DCA mid February. I will be contacted by the company instructed to recover the balance on your account.
It then states the implication of a DCA getting involved are:
A Collector may call at your home
County Court proceedings may be taken against you which will involve charges being added to your debt.
A Default will be registered against your name preventing you from getting credit for years.
It then goes on to say you can avoid the above by calling us with your credit card details to make the required payment
Question
Has anyone else dealt with NEXT and been transferred to a DCA and which company is it and what experiences did you have.
It has put me on a downward spiral. They have added charges as well scumbags.Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

Scare Tactics!!!! Bla Bla Bla
In my opinion, this isn't always a bad thing, as you stand more chance of getting the interest/charges stopped. Most of my debts have been passed to dca's and defaults added to my name.
are you on a dmp?DFD February 2012

Yes I am on a DMP and have been making monthly payments to NEXT since last June. The debt is less than £300. I just got a bit of a shock as things have been running quiet smoothly and I was just plodding along. I just cannot see why they would sell the debt. I am a bit of a worrier I it has put me on a downer.
I shall ring CCCS tomorrow and bring them up to speed with things.
Why can't they just leave things alone???Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

I had a default notice today, when I rang the bank it was due to my DMP being made later than they had agreed which broke the agreement... bank suggested I ring the DMP company (CCCS) as ask them to contact the bank to see if any refund could be made...is this possible?0

CommittedToChange I finally pressed submit on the CCCS site a few days before christmas, having filled in and changed everything so many times before and never gone through with it! I'm so pleased i've done it my DMP starts 01/02/11, I dont know if it will work but it certainly feel better than how I felt before, its such a relief not being able to reach for a credit card for things I dont need. I still feel very stupid and ashamed for being in this situation but I know I'm finally doing something about it. CCCS came recommended by a friend whom I always thought had plenty of money! So good luck to all of us :beer:Final no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

Yep I second your opinion about this company!
a) No-one is allowed to come to your door except for warrented policemen and the postman! Everyone else has to have an appointment or an invitation. DCA's have no power or rights to come to your home.
b) Very doubtful that anyone would take your to court for county court judgements for less than £300! Very last resort. The fact that you have been paying them for a year proves that you are reasonable - they are not. The courts don't like to have their time wasted.
c) Not telling you anything new as you will probably already have these so what is one more to your collection?
Ring CCCS - they will advise you. As others have said and the CCCS counsellor said to me DCA's are actually easier to deal with than the companies and you can let CCCS deal with them - you don't have to. The CCCS will just send the DCA the money instead of the company when they have the correct details.
So sleep well tonight. A lot of these companies are going to be seeing a lot more people like you and I this year and I think they will get what they deserve - especially at the rate of interest they charge!

This just happened to us too. We wrote them a stern letter saying that CCCS were the ones that told them when they would be paid and that no agreement was made with the bank as to a particular date to be paid their monthly amount. When I asked CCCS about it the counsellor told me to keep an eye on what banks are arbitarily adding and after a year or so to write to them all asking for the charges and interest to be withdrawn for this type of thing and to tell them you will write to the ombudsman for putting you more in debt for arbitary reasons. Something may or may not be done. The banks just seem to think 'ah it's that time of the month when we are feeling a bit scroogy' and then send out a load of default notices - there has been no rhyme nor reason as to when they do this. Don't even know how many we have at the moment as it will do us no good to think about them until each company has handed out one to us - which I have no doubt they will. I still don't understand when they have the right to do this and in fact how many each company can send to you! Just keep paying them and complain about their methods.

Thanks Sunfleur, I appreciate your reply, I know that it's well within the creditors rights to add interest etc but not at the rate my bank charges for unatuthorised o/d's.0

hi guys, I'm about to do my postal orders - should I have the names of the companies put on them.... I'm not sure what is should be as halifax say that if you send a cheque it should have the account name and number as the payee.
I'm confused! (it doesn't take much)0
