Building regs for door at top of stairs

Can someone point me in the right direction to find out required clearances for doors at top of stairs? I want to put a toilet in my current huge airing cupboard (after moving tank & boiler first!) It's at right angles to the top of the flight of stairs. It currently has an outward opening door (ie onto landing), but I'm trying to find out if I have an inward opening door fitted whether it would be allowed for use as a toilet. Not had much luck with searching on the internet so far. Any help gratefully received.

Someone I knew did this leaving the door as opening outwards.
However, I have no idea about rules & regs - hopefully someone more knowlegable can help properly soon.
I do know that the room needs to be ventilated either with a samll window or an extractor fan.0 -
Shouldn't be a problem if the door opens inwards. You'll need to check with your local building control when you make the application for consent to carry out the works. If you want to check the regulations I found a link to download the document. Its Approved Document K, look on page 7. Hth
