Am I entitled to a purchase reciept and copy of a contract I have signed?

Options
My partner and I are getting married in October, and she recently ordered her wedding dress. As the shop had recently moved to new premises, their chip and pin had not been set up when she signed and ordered the dress, so i had to give 50% payment over the phone to confirm the order.

However, despite repeated telephone requests and even a personal appearance at the shop we are still yet to receive a purchase reciept, confirmation of the order or a copy of the signed contract.

Am I legally entitled to any of these things?

Sorry I can't help with most of your questions but if you paid over the phone, presumably by credit card, surely it would show up on your credit card statement?

Well if it was me, I would want some form of invoice - so that you have a record of what was paid & what the total cost is - if I didn't have that, I would be nervous - after all what is there stopping them upping the price later on - also do you have something that tells you when the dress is going to be ready, what alterations they are making?

I am sure it will be fine - but makes me nervous.

There is no legal right to a reciept but as you paid by credit card your bank statement is acceptable proof of purchase.

I would still chase though for something extra!

    Hi,

I would be tempted to write out my invoice - showing what I had paid & when, the total amount due & when, what dress was bought & when it will ready, also what is included in the price (dress, fitting, adjustment, etc). Put your address / their address in - take it in & get them to sign ...
