Hi
Thought I would post a quick update on this.
I waited for the NTO to come through and I appealed it, back at the start of August. Did it online, received full acknowledgment.
I realised, a week ago, that I had not heard anything, so I emailed parking services again.
Lo and behold, I got a letter at the weekend, confirming that they'd dropped the matter.
So, thank you, thank you, for your assistance, gave me the confidence to fight it and not just give in!
Incidentally, went back to uni last week to collect some stuff, and see that they haven't changed a thing - you can still get through the uni car park, which is currently unbarriered, to the CPZ without passing the signs...
Thanks, it feels good to take someone on and win!0 -
A quick thought - Is this a proper CPZ in the first place?
I ask because my Uni recently had a "CPZ" forced on it as part of the planning conditions for new buildings.
However, there are few public roads through our main site, so the vast majority of tix issued are actually unenforcable PPC tickets, from a company frequently discussed here.0 -
Don't know, don't care now!
The road runs between two sites, but it is actually a public road as far as I know, standard signage on the main bit. The ticket was actually issued by City of Derby parking attendant, not a dodgy car parking company; I never actually pursued the idea as mentioned by Orford about non statutory signage, etc.
Actually, I assume so.
There have been a lot of alterations to street parking around the uni in the three years I have been there, including parking meters in a road running between a fairly low use public open space - totally unnecessary IMHO, no residents on this bit, wide road so no blockages. The only purpose of parking meters appears to be to get money from students. City/Uni of Derby state that they're trying to be supportive of local residents, but all it has served to do is push people to park a bit further away - outside people's homes... they don't seem to accept that for some students, coming in a car is a necessity. But no matter now, I graduated in summer!0 -
The sign in the link above is not a CPZ sign it's a "Restricted Zone" sign. A totally different kettle of fish but no need to go into that now. Good work all involved.0
