Can anyone give me some advice about my other computer.I have a second pc running windows98 its a 6 year old packard bell .On start up it comes up with a message saying MSVCRT.DLL file not found cant load windows reinstall windows and thats as far as it gets.I have basic pc knowledge so i have tried to load in safe mode but it wont do that still comes up with same message.I have gone into the BIOS settings and changed it to load from cdrom to put the packard bell/windows disc in but it wont read from cdrom it just keeps getting to the same stage with the message.Any ideas anyone please

if the hard drive just makes a clicking sound it could have had it ? i had this a few months ago , i took the pc to my local repair man and he told me that h/ds only last 5 years or so , whether that's right or not i don't know0

Your pc will still load from cd even if your hard drive is faulty, you just won't be able to load an operating system. You may well just have a corupt DLL file these can be downloaded from the internet and re-installed into windows.Try searching Google for the file, download it and follow the sites instructions for installing it. (its far simpler than me explaining it to you)0

Try here it gives you advice on replacing the file, although it may not help if you cant get into the system, you could always put the hard drive intoyour other computer as a slave drive and copy the missing dll that way,,,hopefullyI have nothing better to do!!!!
