Pregnancy sickness .... incapacity benefit?

Hi,

My wife is 9 weeks pregnant with our second child.

She left work before the birth of our first baby (Dec '08) but has been trying to find work again for the past few months. She had a couple of interviews lined up but has had to turn them down due to extreme pregnancy sickness. The best she can eat at present is a Rich Tea or a Ginger Nut!!

This subsequently means she'll not be in a position to claim maternity allowance as I see it highly unlikely that she will enter any employment in the foreseeable future.

Would she be able to claim incapacity benefit or any other benefit? She doesn't get Jobseekers Allowance as I'm in full time employment earning £29k p.a.

Any advice would be great - cheers!

I dont think so...i think it's up to you to support her - at least that is what my kids dad did when I was expecting OUR children. There is the new Health in Pregnancy Grant which she can claim at 29 weeks.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
