The Wheatsheaf, Wirksworth near Matlock well worth a visit

We recently went camping near Matlock with friends, and on the Sunday after a couple of days of basic food we decided to go out for Sunday Lunch. We ended up going to The Wheatsheaf in Wirksworth i) because we'd been for drinks before and knew they accepted children and ii) because it was local to our site.

On our first round of drinks I order 2 pints of Stella, a white wine and lemonade, 5 1/2 pints of Diet Cokes and a blackcurrant and soda and was charged to grand sum of £11.16 which i thought was really cheap especially when he only charged me 50p each for the cokes (because as the barman said he had left a small gap as they were for children).

When we ordered lunch I ordered 2 Large Roast Dinners, 2 child's Roast Dinners and a Cheeseburger and chips, which wasn't expensive either at £17.90. When the food came the veg was seperate from the meat and potatoes which were already plated up and the veg which had 4 choices and was a very large amount was nearly doubled when they tried to bring us more.

The whole meal was absolutely gorgeous very well made and the staff really made an effort. We were made to feel so welcome and the children were welcomed too, which isn't always the case in certain pubs.

If anyones ever near Wirksworth I can't praise or recommend The Wheatsheaf enough.
