Exchange not enabled - cannot go for cheaper packages

We have a problem. Just moved to an exchange area where the exchange is only set up for BT and Virgin media so it's costing us over £30 per month for phone and broadband (was costing us £12 with talk talk at our last property!). Talk Talk wanted to charge the £15 premium because of the exchange problem, so we sacked them off and went for cheap line installation with BT.
Does anyone know a way around this problem or are we stuck with it until the exchange receives an upgrade?

You're stuck with it until interest in a particular ISP warrents said ISP installing there own kit.0 -
OTOH, with line rental at £11.54/month, you must be able to add broadband for less than £30 (you can choose any ADSL provider, it doesn't have to be one with LLU equipment at your exchange).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
