Hi,
I wanted to purchase a Freeview Box for my sick pensioner father.......something inexpensive but reliable......he is insistant on this and I don't want to cause him any distress.
The area he is in, has got very good reception and picture quality is very good too.......I've used Freeview Boxes in this area for under £20.00 and they've worked fine.
I've come across a METRONIC ZAPBOX FREEVIEW BOX on Ebay for £12.99 inclu P&P:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230483195093&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:GB:1123
1)Its Brand New, I checked with them....anyone who is familiar with it, is it reliable enough?
2)I know it might sound a bit daft bearing in mind the price.....but cheap makes from ASDA and Woolworths a couple of years ago were reliable and got very good feedback......would you recommend this?
3)If not, anything you can recommend that may be between £12-£20.00 preferably online inclu P&P (not asking for much I know....but got to listen to the Boss!)?
Thank you very much.

Metronic is at least a proper company with it's own web site, unlike many badge brands.
I would say that you cannot really go wrong for under £13 delivered.0 -
I suppose at £13 you've not got much to lose but... I personally wouldn't go for the Ebay one. I've bought a few cheap no-name electronics in the recent past, and the one thing they don't seem to be is reliable (recent failures: two DVD players and two ADSL modems). The instructions and user interface on them can also be mediocre at best and user-hostile if you're unlucky.
I'd go for a known make from a major online store store so that you have no problems with replacement if it does fail.0 -
Metronic is a huge company in France, they are not a " no name " entity.0
