Pink rose is now white?

I have had a pink standard rose in a pot for a few years that has never thrived. I transplanted it last year and allowed it to grow as it wishes-it seems to like climbing and is growing well. The flowers have just emerged, but they are white. Does anyone know why this has happened ?(when transplanting it I moved it from one pot to a larger one and used HM compost to bed it in).

Thanks

A standard rose is manufactured and pruned to keep its form and the colour of roses. it's made by grafting one rose onto the trunk of a wild rose. If you replant it and bury the join where it was grafted it will revert to a bushy wild rose. This may have happened to yours.

Or you might find that you get both white AND pink flowers on the same standard tree.

Standard trees can sulk and misbehave if they've been moved or if they've been allowed to rock about in high winds. They will also protest loudly if they aren't given a haircut in September. You need to prune the stems to half their length so that they don't get blown about in winter.

    Hope that helps!

Some varieties of roses start buds in one colour, but gradually change colour as the flowers mature

Are yours the same style of flowers?

Just wondering if during the move the rootstock has taken over and the grafted pink one has snuffed it

Is your growth from base of standard rose? If so the that is the answer, your standard's rootstock has triumphed - if this is the case there is no cure, enjoy your white climber
