ebay/paypal problems please help

I have sold lots of items on ebay to someone who has received them, now they have opened a dispute with paypal claiming the items (ty beanie babies) smell of smoke but they are unwilling to return the items to me.
now I do not smoke so know their claim is false but as they are refusing to return the goods but are claiming the full refund paypal have put hold on the moneys in my account. what can I do as I do not see why the buyer should be allowed to keep the item and have a refund.

Paypal wont refund them if the items arent returned0

in my reply to the buyer I said send back and you can have a refund. they then did not reply just escalated the dispute without commenting.Only through Christ can we find freedom0

It makes no difference, paypal will tell them they can have a refund as soon as they can show you have received the items back.
