Southern electric ot British gas
I have just had a cocky little man at my door asking for the previous occupant by name. When I said they no longer lived here, he started jabbering on about people complaining about their elctricity supplier. He told me that his company, Southern Electirc, supplied my electric to the company I paid my bill to. He didn't know who I paid my bill to. He then proceeded to tell me that I can opt out of having my bill sent by whoever sends it now and get a bill direct from Southern Electric and it would be a lot cheaper. Is this a scam, to get me to change my provider to them?
I have heard of it being done before. It's quite scary, considering the person he asked for by name, the last tenant, was an elderly lady, and might have been taken in by his crap.
