What Card will I get

I have recently opened a new current account with Natwest. The account comes with a Visa Debit card with no CG, no overdraft(didnt want one as I wont use it) but I do get a chequebook (useful for paying nursery fees, school dinners etc)
Now after hours of reading these forums Im at a loss at to which Visa Debit Card I will get. I am abit corncerned im going to end up with the Visa Debit card which is full auth and wont work at say Tesco online or pay at pump fuel stations and on trains or if it will it be just a normal Visa debit
I read on Natwest Visa Debit common questions if a card begins with the numbers 4751 23 this can not be used in unattended Point of Sale terminals, such as those on trains or at petrol pumps. but it does mention this is the case if it is replacing a solo card, surely on a full current account it would be a normal Visa Debit card???
Any thoughts please???

I have the current plus acct, with chequebook, but no OD or CG & was given the full auth card. It all depends on what your credit rating is like I suppose.0

The credit search was fine I assume, told him I didnt want an overdraft so he click no overdraft on the application. I did ask what the card would look like and he showed me his out of his wallet and it was a purple one ment nothing to me lol0

You would have to pass the credit check to get the account initially, the bank then give you an 'internal score' based on how good your credit is. If you get a low internal score, they give you the blue, full auth card, & if you have a higher internal score, they give you the offline purple card, which is normally a CG card too. If they do start you off with the blue card, I do believe that after about 6 mths of running the acct well, you can ask for an upgrade to the purple, & again acceptance will depend on the internal score with the bank.0

If your Natwest Visa Debit card doesn't have a Cheque guarantee on it then it won't work at the Pay@Pump.kaitlinsmummy wrote: »ok thanks ill just have to see what comes. Do you know if you can use yours at Tesco online?. The guy in the bank was adamant it could be but now im not to sure

Haven't used it on Tesco as of yet, but sure it is fine. Haven't had an problems with it at all so far & shop online quite a lot. I don't drive so can't be of help with pay@pump I'm afraid
, but I do have an offline card with Lloyds should it ever become a problem :rotfl: 0
