Mouldings under doors...

Hello there folks,
I'm hoping to get a bit of help with info on finishing touches when I've sanded and lacquered the floorboards. Whereas before there were carpets in my flat, I now have a little gap between the bottom of the closed door and the floorboards - is there a moulding to put on thresholds to make that gap a little smaller? If so, what would it be called and where might I buy some? The floorboards are pine - would I need to get pine mouldings for this?
Also I need a similar thing between the kitchen or bathroom and the hallway, where I've tiled the floor and there's quite an offset between the edge of the tile and the floorboards - the tiles are probably 5mm+ higher than the floorboards.
And another also - what's the best way to attach them to the floorboards? I'm imagining lost head nails (I think that's what they are called)
Hope this all makes sense and thanks in advancee - I do love picking people's brains!

They're actually called threshold strips - most DIY places will have themhttp://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=20001&productId=1500455371&langId=-1&cmpid=AFPFD&_$ja=tsid:18771|cc:|prd:1630558|cat:Flooring%3EFlooring+Accessories. I have seen the strips you can put underneath to join different floor heights, not sure what they're called though.0
