Streetcar xs insurance

I've just joined streetcar and the insurance excess in the event of an accident is £750. They charge £15 per month to reduce your excess to zero or £10 to reduce it to £250. Given the very small amount of times I'll use it it's not really economically viable.

Worldwide Insurance (on the MSE site as being good people to go through for xs waiver on car hire), have an annual (including UK) policy for £65. I called them today to ask if it included StreetCar and although the lady on the phone had no idea what StreetCar was she said it would cover it. I'd be interested in other peoples thoughts on this. Am I missing something here or is it a good idea to go through them (or another insurance co.)

thanks
Gordon

The bit in bold worries me. No idea what it is but yeah it will cover it from a sales agent? Wouldn't trust that- phone and get a better answer than that or get it in writing.

Thanks for that, they were my thoughts exactly. However I have had a look at there policy document and there isn't anything that jumps out as being inconsistent with using streetcar providing they accept that streetcar is a rental company.

    Rental Vehicle
means any one single automobile rented outside the usual country of residence of the Insured Person
(unless the Home Country extension has been paid for) under a contract from a Rental Agency, which must be fully licensed.
    Rental Agency
means a commercial operation in business to rent out vehicles that is fully licensed, where applicable, by
the regulatory authority of that Country, State or local authority.

I'll email the question to them and see what sort of written reply I get and post it. In theory if it works out it would considerably cut the cost of streetcar use and allow some piece of mind.
I may still be missing something so would be grateful for responses from those with sharper eyes than mine!

So have you paid the Home Country extension?

I haven't actually bought the policy yet, but obviously I'd buy the one with home country inclusion.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them
