But why have a BO at -1% of the BIN? Why not just lower the BIN??

I think "make me an offer" invites haggling; if I offer 50% then I dont expect to get it but I do expect to be haggled with and not blanked (or blocked, thanks for the warm fuzzy feeling BTW scotsman). Dont ask dont get, right?
Thats like saying why accept £50 when you can get £49

The odd thing is that well over half my BIN items with best offer go for the full asking price. So while some buyers faff around making daft offers I am often selling out fast. i have lost count of the amount of emails i get from people who had offered daft prices asking if i have anymore as they really really want one.

I find best offer is madness. It just increases your workload. There are enough awkward beggars out there without inviting them in. Even BIN attracts them. Recent email for a sat nav listing. "I really want this, but find your postage too much. You should be able to send it for £2-3 recorded". Coincidentally, the item sold as I was replying. I was asking how much it weighed and how it would be packed seeing as he knew so much about it. Then told him not to bother as he was too much of a kn**head to be driving in the first place.

    eBay item - 150447463205

Originally advertised at £57.00, we offered £45.00 and managed to win the item.

I now wonder what the lowest the seller would of accepted, as i like to bid low and build up to see how much i can get the item for.

I guess the seller won this one..

I would never dream of offering someone 50% of the BIN price - I normally go for 10% but tbh, depending on how much it is it might be less- I don't look at BO as a p take on sellers - if something is BIN £10, I'd offer £9.

As a seller, I do have BO's on and it depends how much I want to get rid of the item as to what I set the BO too, I had a large item that was in the way - had it for BIN £19.99 with BO set at £15 and within minutes of listing it sold for £15 - buyer and seller happy, I always set my requirements and I wish others would too as it means when someone puts an offer in, you don't have to wait for up to 48 to see if its accepted or not.

As a seller, I often start a new product with BIN/BO but once I've sold enough to have good visibility then I don't really need to have the BO on there anymore. Trouble is, eBay won't let you remove it, so then I'm afraid I might be guilty of being the seller you are all moaning about, who will only take offers really close to the BIN (or, as I have found - just put the BIN price up).

I'm sure you'll think of a way to stitch the seller up Alias. Life just seems one long nit picking battle for you and the mississ.

Tune back in over the next few weeks and im sure you will find out the end result. Though its not looking good so far for the seller.

    Who knows?
