RE: Internal Doors

Hi All,

i need to buy some internal doors for my new house which i'm loving doing up!

Doors seem to vary in price and i guess you get what you pay for but to be honest i cant afford a fortune as i need five of them!

I have spotted quite a few online but they want a fortune for delivery. One place was £20 a door but wanted £30 delivery then £20 per additional door! JOKE!

So, does anyone know of anywhere that is reasonable other than Argos?!

Thanks!

P.

We got ours from B&Q when they had one of their many offers on. We got the Elveden etched glass ones (which I know don't suit all people's tastes) but for our bungalow they look lovely and match the bi-fold doors we had fitted between the living and dining rooms. We bought 8 all at once so the discount offer at the time certainly helped!

hard to beat wickes or BQ for cheap doors.
think they both charge about 20 quid per delivery, not per item.
    Get some gorm.

Where are you? If in Scotland try http://www.orchardtimberproducts.co.uk/

We needed three (2x826mm; 1x626mm) Vicaima internal sapele doors and we got them for about £100 including delivery.
To me they look quality, the missus muttered something about them being hollow...er, OK...

Little tip...if you want the doors from Wickes...goto Toolstation instead as it works out marginally cheaper as the delivery is free but yet it's still supplied via wickes.

We bought 6-panel moulded one's from B&Q but stuck them in the boot of my Dad's car (only to be pulled over by a police routine check - luckily the load was safe but i'm sure they pulled us over due to it!!). I need a part-glazed one to match at some point and the Wickes one via toolstation is the one i have in mind.

We buy most of our doors from Howdens (maybe I won't tell you about my gorgeous walnut veneers that we got for £20 + VAT a pop :o) but H always comes home and tells me they've got certain doors on offer at B&Q that 'look quite nice' if you can get in on one of the 15% off weekends, then all the better! They have quite a range there at different price levels.

I did laugh that Argos sell them! How do you even check the quality of them?

Online may be good for finding the style you like and suppliers with stock. But to buy doors, you should go to a local supplier - the DIY sheds, or a builders merchant or a timber merchant - or you may find there is a good DIY shop in your area - with a good selection and much more reasonable prices. The builders merchant, the timber merchant and possibly the DIY shop will be able to deliver and if delivery is not included, it will probably be 'per drop' rather than 'per item'
