Not getting any money for 2nd child

Hi can anyone please help my 25yr old daughter is a single parent in private let she has 2 children a 2yr old boy and a 8 month old girl. She applied for child benefit when her little girl was born and it took months to come through in the mean time the tax credits wanted proof or her birth and my daughter couldn't send the birth cert as the child benefit still had it when she eventually got it back and sent it she had an awful time off them saying they had not received it .They then stopped her money as they had started paying when she telephoned to say her daughter was born .Now they are saying they have been red flagged (what ever that means) and she has to appeal this has been going on since before January and my daughter is getting nowhere when she phones .She is struggling to make ends meet and only getting money for 1 child can anyone please help as my daughter is becoming very depressed she should be enjoying motherhood not worrying about money all the time

Sometimes things do get lost. She might be best off getting a copy of the birth certificate and sending it to them. As a general rule it's a good idea to get at least one extra copy of birth, marriage and death certificates to cover accidents like this.

Has she sent in the letter that confirmed her entitlement to child benefit for the second child they will usually accept that as proof but as daska said a second copy of the birth certificate is always good to have :-)

Get her to go into a local hmrc office and ask for a hardship payment and speak to them there about the problems shes having they may be able to help sort it out. I had so many problems when my daughter was born and they really helped. Hope she gets thing sorted soon

You usually only have to supply the birth certificate to CB office - tax credits only need CB number and they check CB is in payment.

Ask your daughter to check every piece of paperwork she has - slight mis-spelling of name, wrong CB number gone to tax credits, DOB not right. If she finds any slight error, it would explain why tax credits have not got a 100% match to CB and therefore want the birth certificate.
