How long to wait?

Hi, I bought an item on the 1st June and paid immediately. The postage was 2nd class.

I still have not received the item and when I looked on the view order details it actually gave delivery date as the 14th - 16 th June as the seller states 5 - 8 days for them to post the item.

I have contacted them and heard nothing, also the little brown parcel thingy is not filled in.

I know 2nd class takes longer but I thought that items had to be sent within 7 days, or was I dreaming that.:(

Really just wanted to know when we are supposed to post things when sold as I always try to do it the next day?

The item could well have been dispatched within the seven days though, but like you Second class can take a little long. I guess i've been lucky in dispatching via Second class as my items have usually arrived in a couple of days or in some instances the next day after postage.

Some people don't use the 'mark as dispatched' option on Ebay so that might be the case here.

I would give it a little longer, but them i'm inclined to give sellers the benefit of the doubt, maybe wait until the end of the week? You could request their details to give them a ring then if you still haven't received the item.

A seller is allowed to state their own dispatch times so if they have said up to 8 days then it might not even be posted yet. Many people won't bid on sellers with dispatch times like that so you may have got yourself a bargain.

As for the 7 days, that is for the seller to retain paypal protection, after 7 days they give up that protection. It is not a set deadline given by ebay.

If it isn't posted until say tomorrow you may be waiting up to another week for it.

As you suggested, I did get a bargain and could not understand why? As you say I did not read the postage details properly, so it may have put other people off! Cheers for the help.
