A&L Direct Debit Question

I have a A&L Current account and my salary goes in on the SAME DAY as some Direct Debits are due out, now I read that money has to be in the DAY BEFORE any Direct Debits are due, so I emailed A&L and they said it would be okay as the Salary is an automated credit by BACS and this would be taken into account when paying the Direct Debits.

I just want to make sure as I don’t want to be charged, and I don’t really trust them a lot after reading some stories on here, so should I be safe or not ?.

Thanks.

I asked them the same question once, the lady I spoke to said that it will be OK provided that the BACS payment DID hit my account before the DD's went out, otherwise there was a slim chance they wouldn't be paid. The sensible thing is to change your direct debit dates.

^^^ Wot they said. It will usually be OK but as you know nothing in this world is gauranteed and if you run your account fairly empty you have no margin for error. Many companies are reasonable about changing dates. Have you got an agreed overdraft on the account ? (only to be used like a [STRIKE]first aid kit[/STRIKE] paramedic)

I'm with A & L and my water rates direct debit comes out on the same day as I get paid, (unless it falls on a weekend) . I was worried to but its fine, as long as your pay is in by close of play that day then you should be ok. If your overdawn it still shows as a minus figure even if your salary is shown as been paid in your account, but you wont be penalised for it.
