As title says really
I had a auction running a french bidder ended up winning (not making any prior contact about bidding or shipping)
I came home to find a payment with 50p added to my uk postage rate
I send a email saying did they have a uk address as the paypal one was stating france they replied
Yes, that's why I have add 0,50p
Regards
To be honest im abit dumbstruck at the cheek of the bidder making their own postage!
any help or ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

work out the cost to send item to france
compare it with what buyer has sent you
- if they owe you more, refund payment and send invoice with correct postage
- if they've paid you more, champion0 -
Also if you do offer international postage then just add the relevant 'Europe' and 'Worldwide' costs to your postage section. That is the simplest way to avoid this in future as the postage is automatically picked up when paypal registers their address. I have BINs set up and regardless of where my buyers are the postage is added fro their country automatically.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ebay has a postage calculator, so they haven't been that cheeky. Happened to me some time ago, so I asked how the buyer had known the postage.0

i've never seen that on ebay UK. I am used to it on ebay.com where sellers can have that handy little postage calculator but never on UK?
How do ebay know how much the item weighs and what service is being used if seller hasn't entered those details?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Personally id workout the postage and if its within what they have paid then fair enough, if not, ask them for the extra before you post it.
Quite funny tho, ive never had any buyers do that to me yet! Ive had buyers from other countries win things then pay the uk postage expecting me to post it to them, but never had someone make up their own postage yet!0 -
So how many UK sellers actually state wrapped weight of their items on the auction. That postage calculator is exactly the same as the RM one, but no use at all to work out what the costs of an unweighed and unsized item sent abroad would be.

Don't ask me, it's not my calculator - I was just kind enough to find and post the link for you.So how many UK sellers actually state wrapped weight of their items on the auction. That's just a guide to postage costs though, I wondered what Macfly had seen that could change a UK postage cost accurately to a French one. As a seller I know what my wrapped weights are, as a buyer I can't possibly have a clue how a seller intends to pack something and how much it weighs, or even if they have an RM business account.
If Macfly had seen something interesting that could work out accurately what foreign bidders were being told they should pay I was interested in seeing it merely as I was worried that it couldn't posisbly be accurate as it could not account for the fact that UK post is calculated on volume and weight whereas overseas postage is on weight only.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry for the late reply. It was an Italian buyer who told me this. The item was a hard drive, but I wondered too. As it happens he was 13p under, but the postage I quoted for the UK was a bit under the cost also. I have not actually seen a postage claculator.0
