If you move your money on a Monday whether deposit or withdrawal usually before lunchtime you'll have your money in your account by Wednesday.

In my experience deposits made before lunch, whether by direct debit or BACS transfer, take 4 working days.

Withdrawals arrive in my linked account in 3 working days.

The cut-off time, btw, is 1.00pm

I also find it tends to be 2 days, but it depends who your current account is with. If you are with a clearing bank (eg hsbc, natwest, lloyds TSB, barclays) then it will probably be 2 days though I think it should take 3, somehow they take off a day somewhere. If you're with an ex-building society or building society eg a&l, abbey, cahoot, halifax to name but a few, I would expect 4 days but it may be three.

Fair point. My linked account is with mortgage bank, the Halifax and deposits take four working days, (including the day on which the transfer is initiated.)

Makes little difference interest-wise of course, if you transfer funds by direct debit
