Do you know what's caused the blockage? You could try dissolving with caustic soda or use a mop in the toilet pan to try and break-up the blockage with pressure.0

Have you another loo? Because that does rather affect the urgency...and is it completely blocked or just very, very slow running?
Some years ago, with a slow runner (flushed, water rose to the top of the bowland took about an hour to sink to normal level), I poured down bleach and soaked and flushed, poured down bleach and soaked and flushed...it took about ten days, but it cleared. DIY stores sell one shot unblocker too.
If it's utterly, utterly blocked, and you can't wait, things get a bit nastier, and other people know far more than I do...import this0 -
Don't forget the gloves!0

How about using that stuff you pour down blocked sinks , then just leave for 24 hours and it disolves everything? We tried that on our kitchen sink and it worked a treat. It could work for loos, maybe?0

is it upstairs or downstairs loo ?? do you have another loo if so you have time to work on it or book a qualified plumber / drain engineer (see the Institute of Plumbing website for lists - you can report back to them then if plumber was no good or overcharges...
does it happen often ? are you flushing tampax products or the new wet wipe things down there ?? (they cause problems and costs !)
You can use the mop method (but i would want clean water in the loo first !) use the mop in the same way you'd use a plunger this may work for an upstairs loo too - the blockage could be further down the pipe ... good luck0 -
ps forgot to mention .........you could try Coke (no the bottled variety !!- or a plumber would definitely be cheaper !!) --tip a few cans down...it will work the same and a lot cheaper than the unblocking acids sold in shops (and it will clean any scale from the loo at the same time !!)0

Blimey, what's it doing to my innards then ? :eek:0 -

Given that Orange Juice is significantly more acidic than coke, very little indeed.

Worth having a read for everyone who's convinced that a can (or bottle, or gallon) of coke can clean things.
(or alternatively watch the relevant Mythbusters episode!)0 -
Many years ago I pierced a coke can (long before the advent of ring pulls). The can, jet propelled itself all around the highly polished floor of the room where I was working. It stripped all the polish off the lino and it took the cleaner ages to get the finish back again to its previously high shine. I often wondered about what the coke was doing to my innards.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
