ISP phone number?

sorry to be a real novice here, but i'm just trying to set up a new lappy to my broadband account. its asking for my ISP's phone number, which i cant find. i am with wanadoo, now orange, and presumably it means the number that connects me to the internet??

any help appreciated

You would only have a telephone number for your ISP is you are using dial up so not sure why they would ask this if you are using broadband.

Are you wireless with Wanadoo/Orange?

You don't use telephone numbers with broadband. How is your lappy trying to connect to the internet ? Are you using your lappy instead of another machine at your home ? Are you trying to share a broadband account between two or more machines ?
By asking for a telephone number it looks like the system is trying to access a dial-up modem. You might need a CD with the right software on it to access a broadband setup if it plugs into a usb port. Having something that works is a very good reference point. Describe this and put what you are trying to do in context.

i am trying to share my broadband access between my pc and my wi fi enabled laptop. dont know if i need routers , lappy was trying to connect itself at first startup, and this was one of the questions it asked.
