    Hi,

funny, as its some cause of discussion on the Flyertalk forums how little redemption there is across the Atlantic, apparently mainly caused by a 100,000 BA miles give-away by an American Credit card.

My own experience of trying to book a redemption to Chicago is that there is none.

I have flexible dates, and been checking regularly, and there have been none for 2 months.

    Cheers,
    Karen
I've been checking this morning for ORD - LHR tickets for the Xmas period. Nothing in Economy, but PE and Club World have lots of openings. I was pleasantly surprised!!

Do you need to pay taxes on BA Miles flights?

    Thanks
Here is the breakdown presently for PE / Club World (ORD - LHR return)
    PE
    75000 Miles + £ 287.70
    60000 Miles + £ 402.70
    52500 Miles + £ 462.70
    48800 Miles + £ 492.70
    45000 Miles + £ 522.70
    37500 Miles + £ 577.70

    Club World
    100000 miles + £317.70
    90000 Miles + £467.70
    75000 Miles + £692.70

This is a bonkers waste of miles. A PE ticket on that route is roughly £700 (£500 in a sale) - buy a PE ticket then upgrade to CW for 25k miles (hence saving 50k miles for exactly the same flight). Note - there needs to be reward availability to do this!

    Hi,

This is exactly what I do - pay for a flight in economy plus & upgrade using BA Miles .... done that a few times ... as to availability - well I managed to find two tickets to Jamaica in December 2010.

The highest one to get availability for is Sydney.

    Never thought of that. Thanks!

One problem. For the dates I'm looking at it's 25,000 miles plus, wait for it, £1,200!

    EDIT - For upgrade 1 way is 12,500 miles / £1,185 eek!

    Think I'll go for the Club World - 100000 miles + £317.70

You have to do what you're happy with really.
For instance we had specific dates in mind for Feb/March 2011 to Barbados. yes, we could wait for a WT+ sale and upgrade but we couldn't take the risk so paid the grand for WT+ and snagged the 25k miles upgrade to club world and we're happy with that. At the end of the day availability for our dates could've vanished whilst we waited.

Now I'm on with the BA Amex black card for the 18k sign up and then the companion 2 for 1 redemption after 10k of spend, desperately need to work out how to get all the miles we'll need to redeem the 2 for 1 in first class for the the US west coast redemption I want :) I'm aware of the '£4.95' option for 10k miles miles, Tesco is a no go where I am and I won't order online from them. Hopefully they'll get planning permission for the store they want in my area.

I'm trying to use Tesco clubcard reward vouchers to buy BA airmiles, and keep getting an error message at checkout. Does anyone else have this problem?

Are you a BA Exec already? Cause unless you are, it doesn't work.

Maybe the vouchers have been used already?

Thanks - yes, I am a BA exec member. It turns out there has been a glitch with the computer system for the last couple of days.
