Remove all the water from the bowl then fill up to the line with malt vinegar and leave over night. If it is lime scale then it will just chip off with your finger nail. If you have a pumice stone then lightly break down the surface as it will allow the acid to penetrate easier.
I live in a hard water area and have done this with great success.Mags - who loves shopping0 -
Probably a silly question, but how do you remove the water without it filling back up again?0

I used an old plastic mug and just kept scooping it out. It wont fill up again until it is flushed. I got the last bits of water out by using an old dish cloth and wringing it out into the bucket. Just remember that you will need lots of vinegar as you have to fill up as much round the other side of the U bend as you will on the side you can see.Mags - who loves shopping0

An Alka Selzer or two left in the bowl overnight works a treat at getting stains off!0
