I need to sell white goods worth a few hundred,if i ask for paypal payment what timescaler is there before i have cleared funds.
I would only accept payment from verified buyers with confirmed address but wondered if i had to wait for funds to go into my bank account before i release goods.
Help is appreciated

If someone sends a normal instant payment to you via PayPal i.e not an e-cheque then it clears right away.

by special delivery,is it clearing asap if the buyer uses credit/debit card?0

yes it clears instantly, though if the card has been stolen or the transaction fails for some reason, it may take several weeks for paypal to reverse the transaction.
Paypal is a bit of a 'cheek clenching' experience if you sat down and started to think too much about it (try https://www.paypalsucks.com) but generally (ie, 999 times out of 1000) its fine. Also, be aware that you cant stop people with unverified paypal accounts bidding or buying in ebay, so you may end up with some miffed buyers particularly as being unverified or having an unconfirmed address doesn't necessarily make them a bad person....0 -

Doesn't do any good at all. If you get a fraudulent use of card chargeback they usually happen only after goods received, so you won't make any difference. You will however be risking a standard chargeback if you delay despatch as paypal require all items to be sent in a timely manner, and this is usually taken to mean within a week of payment as a chargeback for non receipt can be started as early as day 7.
Personally if I was spending £100+ on ebay I would be loooking to get my item within the week.
Also, I note that you say you will use special delivery, but to me white goods are large things like fridges etc which would be too heavy to be sent that way. If they are heavy goods why not just ask for cash on collection and save yourself some paypal fees?
