How about somewhere in this country straight after the wedding as a minimoon, then travellling a lil bit further affield a couple of months later? We're getting married in February and have really struggled too but we have booked into:

Then if funds allow we'd quite like to go island hopping in Greece June/July time.

Thanks for your help, however we really want to go abroad, I grew up in Cornwall and now live in Norfolk and have only ever been on holiday in the UK so have kind of experienced the best this county has to offer. We really want to go somewhere different.

Thanks for the suggestion of Gambia, it was something I had not considered but actually sounds lovely. I think i'll go to the travel agents to see what they can offer us

    Thanks everyone for your help

Hi I am looking for ideas of somewhere to go for our honeymoon. We want somwhere, where the flight will only take 2-3 hours maximum. I have never been abroad before so have no idea where to go. we want somewhere that will be peaceful, be hot and have a nice beach. No where that is too touristy or a resort that is geared up to children
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
BTW we are going to be going late April
    Thanks

I can recommend Pollensa, a lovely old town on Mallorca. Romantic, with nice restaurants, lovely town houses or country villas you can rent, not touristy, and in driving distance to some fab beaches. NB there is also Port de Pollensa directly by the sea, but that's more touristy and family orientated (still much better than most resorts though).
We went end of April 3 years ago, and we had great weather all week, it was warm enough to swim in the sea, but weather wouldn't be guaranteed. For that try Lanzarote or Teneriffe.

It was Mansea Beach we stayed at, we booked last minute and got it pretty cheap, it was a nice enough place but I would upgrade, you had to walk across a snady football pitch that wasn't lit up at night to get back to the hotel :rotfl:. It was our first holiday together and just lovely for doing nothing much
  • It won't be hot, but the far south of Spain, the Almeria coast, is gorgeous and it should be warm - the area around Mojacar is not very touristy and there is a lot of history.

Canary Islands, around a 4hr flight, bu nice beaches & guaranteed sunny weather (usually)

Tunisia - Hammamet beach resorts (useful if you speak French)

Malta - not many 'pretty' type beach resorts but good warm weather, English speaking and fascinating history & trips. A couple of nice beaches to be had.

For hot weather then Egypt is your best bet and as far as I know there are not many innoculation jabs you have to get.

Cyprus might be nice then, not scorchio, but a bit of sunshine.
  • suggestion, but like Canaries/Gambia it's a 5hr flight: http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/holidays/portugal/cape-verde/ Cape Verde looks gorgeous!!!

Any of the Canary Islands will have lovely weather that time of year and the flight is approx 3.5 hours, worth it though to near enough guarantee the weather!

I haven't visited La Palma but in my opinion, Lanzarote is the best holiday destination as unlike some of the other islands, it has strict planning laws and is more beautiful, lots of unspoiled natural wonders to see during excursions. Learn how to scuba dive to make the holiday more special.

We're going to Turkey, but we're off in August.. I would also suggest canary islands as they have good weather all year round!

In april prices for all inclusive resorts should be quite reasonable though so thats a bonus!

Turkey in April may be a good bet actually, a colleague went to one of the resorts a couple of months back and said it was really warm, and their all inclusive resort was really good.

If you're prepared to travel a bit further my sister went to Cuba for her honeymoon in mid-March - they had three nights in Havana and then a week at a beach resort, and the weather was great.

Also it might be worth checking when Easter is next year so you won't clash with school holidays.
