Completeion notice on new build

We are currently in a chain and we are ready to proceed. Our sellers are buying from someone who is purchasing a new build. Our solicitor has been advised that the new build is due to be ready beginning to middle of september but the building company will not issue a notice for completion till 1st September due to their financial year?
As we are FTB and have no experience with new builds what exactly does this mean?
Our solicitor said she will try and confirm a completion date on the 1st September, does this sould like a likely thing to happen? we are desperate to move.
