Hi
This is my first post, i just want some advice please.
I dont claim ANY benefits atall, the only thing i get is child benefit for my 7 year old son.
My husband is American (he does live in the UK with me)and has a full time job, he gets paid around 16.5k p/a
I have just found out i am pregnant, i have been told many different things i am/not entitled too and dont really know where to go for advice.
So any advice would be wonderful please
Thanks

Have a look at this, you' be entitled to a health in pregnancy grant, everyone can get that.
If your family is classed as having a low income then you may bebale to get a Sure Start Maternity Grant.
You must get Child Tax credits too?Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
no i dont work, i got made redundant from my job 12 months ago, and i know that sounds really stupid but i havent worked since..... i was looking for work late last year and a few months into this, i had a few interviews but no sucess - please dont think im a dosser because im not, as i have never ever claimed a penny from the dole (or whatever it is called) we live off my husbands wages and nothing else apart from child benefit0

Its not stupid! You do have a choice. Do you have a mortgage to pay or do you rent?Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0

no, as i said before - i dont get anything apart from child benefit
The only reason im confused is because i have been told that i am not entitled as my hubby is American??0 -
I think it may be about time you put in a claim for the relevant benefits, as far as I can see your spouse lives in the UK and works in the UK so you should be entitled to claim CTC and WTC.no, as i said before - i dont get anything apart from child benefit

The op would be entitled to claim benefits in her own right as a British citizenship, but it depends on her DH's visa and whether he has a right to access public funds.I think it may be about time you put in a claim for the relevant benefits, as far as I can see your spouse lives in the UK and works in the UK so you should be entitled to claim CTC and WTC.
p.s DX2 it's good to see you posting again
